New to the ReVolver Network of podcasts is “Latinos Out Loud”- a weekly show with sketch comedians Rachel La Loca, Juan Bago, JFernz and Frank Nibbs that features improv bits, pranks, character segments, guest interviews and more. We are the the voice of Latinos today, and we are just starting to get loud!
Rachel "La Loca" Strauss-Muniz
A Brooklyn, NY Native of both Dominican and Jewish-American heritage, Rachel “La Loca” Strauss-Muniz is a comedic actress, podcast and event host, marketer, philanthropist and writer. Rachel’s experience presents itself with a corporate background of Multicultural Marketing for over sixteen years, having worked at brands like People en Español, Latina, Heineken USA and MTV and having served as an Adjunct Lecturer at CUNY Brooklyn College.
Today show business is the main focus, and has yielded appearances on TV, Internet, film, stage and more. Rachel’s admitted obsession with game shows has landed her as a contestant on “The Price is Right” and “The Newlywed Game." Rachel has also made appearances on “The Late Show with David Letterman," Nuvo TV’s, “Latino 101” and has starred in documentaries such as HBO Latino’s “Habla Ya!” and “The Bigger the Hoop”. She has served as a talking head for Momcomedy on Latina.com, Parents.com and “Nobody Told Me ”, a spinoff web series from the producers of “Bad Moms” the movie.
She also served as a part-time commentator on MTV’s “FNMTV” video review program. Rachel has landed principal roles in TV commercials for Spectrum Cable , the NY Knicks , several PSA’s including messages for the Northern Manhattan Improvement Corporation , Voto Latino , and the Aids Healthcare Foundation. Rachel has completed multi-episodic programming such as “The Work Jerks" and “Ungirly”. She has collaborated with Univision’s Flama channel on viral hits like “Latino Field Studies: The Lip Purse”, “Abuela BnB”, “Dominican Uber”, “Puerto Ricans Vs. Dominicans” and “Dominican Juicing” among others.
She has also self-produced, voiced and starred in two female-driven music video parodies--“Pregnant Queen ”, which was shot while 38 weeks pregnant and was featured on Comedy Central, as well as “Cat Callers” . Most recently, her character actor skill can be see on “Gente of Thrones”, a “Game of Thrones” parody on the Pero Like network. Rachel La Loca thrives on performing live. On stage, Rachel was involved in two runs of stage play, “Please Hold” which was featured in The Ultimate Latina Theater Festival, was part of the traveling cast of “Yo Soy Latina” and in 2017, starred in the awardwinning play, “The Field Trip” where she served lead as a special needs woman.
Rachel serves as lead comedienne in sketch troupe, Room 28 Comedy --a collective of diverse actors and comedians who are committed to sharing the Latino experience through lifestyle and scenario based long-form sketches. The troupe was part of the long-time running New York Comedy Festival presented by Comedy Central—and was scouted to be part of Broadway Videos’ Más Mejor comedy hub—a premium online comedy studio powered by Lorne Michaels and Saturday Night Live alums, Horatio Sanz and Fred Armisen. Her work for Más Mejor can be seen in “Latino Vortex” and “Shakespeare in a Park” on the brands YouTube channel. Rachel has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business and Latino Studies from CUNY Brooklyn College and studies improv and sketch writing at The Upright Citizens Brigade in NYC.
Michael Diaz
With his high-energy physical style of comedy, Michael “Juan Bago” Diaz has evolved into a versatile and seasoned entertainer. In 2006 Michael wrote, produced and starred in his independent film "The Story of Juan Bago” which made its way into three film festivals. The success of this slapstick humored film led to Michael’s involvement with various projects as a producer, actor and host.
For years Diaz worked on Room 28 Comedy, where he served as both a producer and actor. He studied at the famed Upright Citizens Brigade which led to his role as co-host of “The Bochinche Bueno Show” on Urban Latino Radio. Diaz has produced and acted in various projects including the short film, “Act of Love” serving as a talking head personality for Nuvo TV’s “Latino101” series, MTV Tr3s “Chisme Club” and HBO Latino’s “Habla Ya”. His music parody group “Bago and O” sparked the viral hits “Pan con Queso”, “Dominis in the Heights”, and “Hooked on Hookah”. Accumulating over 2 million views, these cultural videos have been featured in The NY Daily News, Telemundo, Yahoo! News, Billboard.com, and on rotation across Mun2, MtvTr3s and Music Choice.
Michael worked with Lipton Tea and Remezlca to host “Brisk Bodega Chat”-- a traveling series where he interviewed up and coming artists. He produced and starred in “Studio Heads”, a webisode which was also featured in the NY Daily News and Splitsider.com. He was also a co-star in the Award Winning Weberies “Henry”. In 2015 he started working with Univision's Flama website where he created sketches that have garnered over 12 million views. He is a part of the Voto Latino family of talent where he speaks on panels across the country educating young activists on how to create engaging content. Michael was recently chosen by Verizon Wireless to star in a campaign called #Lomejordemi, spotlighting Latinos in their industries.
Michael is excited to team up with Rachel “Loca” Strauss-Muniz on this new podcast endeavor.
